Antipolo Church

Perfect for the Lenten Season, visiting Antipolo Church is a serene place just an hour or so off the metro where you can reflect about your daily life. It is a popular site for devotees who want to celebrate Lenten Season in tranquility.

The church’s altar is embellished with a touch of gold everywhere. It shows royalty perfect for the Nuestra Señora de la Paz y Buen Viaje (Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage) that it houses.

The Antipolo Church has a dome-like roof structure. This makes it look magnificent inside and out.

When we went to this place, coincidentally, there was a wedding being held. It was the first time I attended a wedding mass where the couple being married are complete strangers to me. And for those who may be curious, we weren’t invited to the reception and that was cool with us. :)

After the mass, we went to the National Shrine of Nuestra Señora de la Paz y Buen Viaje. Taking of pictures was prohibited in the actual shrine. So, I would just share a few snapshots around the church.

After praying inside the shrine, we went out and we found some good treats in the nearby pasalubong area (stores selling food treats and keepsakes). Antipolo is popular for its luscious kasuy (cashew nuts) and suman (sticky rice wrapped in coconut leaves). We bought some before we headed home. Now I know that you don’t need to go to Palawan because Antipolo is much nearer if you are craving for kasuy. :)

The vendors there are so nice. They even run after us to give us a free bracelet each after buying from them. A very nice gesture and we really appreciate it.

Here is mine.

This Lenten Season, I encourage all of us to reflect. We need not go anywhere far because even in our own homes, we can be able to do this. Though we live in the present, never forget to look at the past and never disregard what can happen in the future. Like a lighted candle, let us all continuing being a guide to everyone.
