Katsu lovers now have a new place to go to at Yabu: The House of Katsu. I am not a fan of Japanese food especially katsu but I am truly impressed of how delicious their katsus are. At first, I thought Yabu is just a hype – something new that’s gaining buzz because well, it’s new. But I was wrong, the food is really good and I think Yabu will continuously gain more patrons. I think they need a bigger space if that time comes.

I was early for lunch when I went to SM Megamall. While waiting for my friends to have lunch in Yabu, I seated in an area near the restaurant and I noticed a lot of people already going in the restaurant. I think it’s just a few minutes past 10 AM but groups of people are already going in Yabu for brunch. I was quite bored so I took a picture of the restaurant using my phone. Then, I posted it online and coerced my friends to rush. Basti and Lester arrived before 11 AM and the place is already packed. We were already seated outside of the restaurant. But it was okay, their service is superb.

Since this is the first time I am eating in this place, I ordered their specialty katsu – the Kurobota Pork Set (Php515 for 120 grams). The Kurobota Pork is said to be the “kobe beef” of pork. It is also known as the Berkshire Black Pig. It’s meat is darker and tastier compared to regular pork cuts. The set came with Japanese rice, miso soup, fruit bowl, and unlimited servings shredded cabbage.

Lester was thinking of getting the curry set but he ended up getting the Hire Tonkatsu Set (Php365 for 150 grams). He was overwhelmed of the size of his order that it seemed like he wasn’t eating even if he had already eaten a lot. :)

Basti got the Rosu Tonkatsu Set (Php365 for 150 grams). He said he wanted that extra trimmings of fat so he got this.

Since our good friend, Isabel, cannot join us because she was so busy, we got her the Chicken Katsudon (Php260) to go. I wanted to have Yabu for dinner as well, so I had an additional order of the Fish Katsu (Php275) for me.

I’m pretty interested of eating Japanese foods as I see them here they are so nutritious and appetizing. Nothing is so pricey if nutrition is at stake.

Deliciously shared this thoughts from Gil Camporazo of RandomThoughts!
