Watching many Lifestyle Network and Asian Food Channel shows until wee hours in the morning exposed me to the Italian pasta known as ravioli. This pasta is made of two thin sheet of freshly made egg pasta dough, where one sheet is layered on top of the other and a filling is placed in the middle (like a sandwich). Then, the sides are sealed to keep the filling at the center from oozing out while cooking. The filling used varies but the most popular that I have seen in many cooking shows is made from spinach and cheese.

So, after getting my car serviced at Toyota in Roxas Blvd., I drove off to SM Mall of Asia (since it’s just a stone throw away from there) to have a taste of Bistro Ravioli (I have seen it before when we stuffed ourselves with food at Vikings.) I heard a lot of good feedback on how awesome the food is here so I wanted to try it for myself. And I also wanted to personally meet the ravioli. :)

Bistro Ravioli has a simple, cozy, and bright atmosphere. Everything is just white – from the couches to the tables to the overhead lamps. This design is matched by large images on the white walls that show different food served at the bistro. There are also a few quote from Julia Childs, Sophia Loren, and Bellini.

TIPS: Top Foods You Should Try at Vikings

Vikings offers a wide array of food. From dim sums to makis to canapes, and from lamb shanks to coq au vin (cok-o-van which means rooster with wine, I’m just being classy) to different meat skewers, you can certainly find something that will satisfy your palate. Since it is a common problem that when going to buffet restaurants, some of the awesome foods are missed because of the desire to try everything else, here is a rough guide of the food that you shouldn’t miss when dining at Vikings. But remember, my basis is my own palate but I hope we share the same taste.

My favorite among all the food that I have tasted in Vikings is the Baked Oyster with Cheese. I think many will agree with me on this since the serving tray is always empty a few seconds after it has been refilled. The oysters are really tasty – like exploding flavors of the sea in your mouth. And the melted cheese on top of the oysters are so creamy, which adds richness to the dish.
