Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok, Thailand
Budget : depends on what you will buy
Duration : half to whole day, depends on your endurance
Bummers : long walks, large crowds, need to haggle
Chatuchak Weekend Market is the largest market in Thailand, and probably in all the places that I have been so far. According to the map that I have seen, Chatuchak Weekend Market covers 35 acres of land and contains more than 5,000 stores. Chatuchak is also known as Jatujak or J.J. market.
Chatuchak Weekend Market’s opening time is around 9AM to 10AM and closing time is about 6PM.
You can buy almost everything from Chatuchak Weekend Market. But if you want to cut down the prices of the products sold be ready to haggle.
There are many clothing choices and accessories like dresses, bags, hats, scarves, souvenir shirts, souvenir shirts for the kids, towels, and watches.
An important note though, if you plan to buy souvenir shirts, I suggest you buy from MBK. They are much cheaper there at around 99 Baht (Php150). Souvenir shirts in Chatuchak Weekend Market are around 100 Baht or more.
There are also many home decors in Chatuchak Weekend Market. You can find wood crafts, lighting decors, Thai dolls, vases, faux flowers, and Buddhas.
Soaps.
You can also buy many souvenirs from this market.
We even spotted an art gallery in Chatuchak. They’re probably selling those awesome paintings.

wow sarap namang magshopping lalo na yung mga bags
Loving all the things in the Chatuchak market! I can’t get my eyes off the shirts for kids.. Sana they had bigger sizes of those cute-printed tees
Btw, thanks for sharing about your adventure in Thailand! This is very helpful since I plan to go to Bangkok in the near future..
@chrisair
Most of the bags sold there are imitations. I think you have to go to the malls to find authentic bags and their still pricey.
@Sumi
No problem. I am glad you can use this as resource for your future trip in Bangkok.
nice pictures! those paintings are cool too! though yung mga bags are imitations, well you can buy it and use it for everyday wear..
I only have been to Pratunam…but I’ll surely be going to Chatuchak soon. Thanks for the share.
i enjoyed shopping more at MBK and the other malls.. probably coz Chatuchak is so big and crowded so its kinda stressful. we bought pasalubong items there though
