Venice Piazza is known for being a food hangout spot for people who want to splurge. Most of the restaurants that you can find here are on the high end spectrum of the foodie meter. Well, there’s a McDonald’s on the second floor of the Piazza but I guess that’s the most budget meal you can get. That’s what I thought until I came across Sweet Pea.

Well, I am not saying that the price at Sweet Pea is cheap but it’s relatively lower compared to other restos in the Piazza – ranging between Php200 and Php400.

We decided to eat at Sweet Pea before attending CleverBuy’s Event at 7th High. My friend, Basti, just finished his 10-day Master Cleanse diet so he is easing out and all he can eat is soup and salad. He recommended that we try Sweet Pea since there are soup and salad choices there at reasonable prices.

Sweet Pea has a homey ambiance. The plates and utensils you can use here will make you feel like you are dining inside your own kitchen. Maybe that’s why it’s called “A Chef’s Kitchen”.

Basti ordered the Bacon and Corn Chowder (Php145) and Hawaiian Potato Salad (Php150).

The Bacon and Corn Chowder was good. It is creamy and tasty. The saltiness of the bacon bits is a great match to the creaminess of the chowder. The bread stick served with it was crunchy. Basti enjoyed dipping it on the chowder.

Basti said the taste of the Hawaiian Potato Salad was just average, and some of the potatoes seem to be a bit undercooked. I tried it and I kind’a agree with him. Nothing so special with it.

I ordered the BBQ Baby Back Ribs (Php375) and the Chicken Cordon Bleau (Php295).

I love how soft and tender the ribs are. The meat falls off the bone. The BBQ sauce made this dish a star. I know Basti is drooling for this unfortunately, his diet says “No can do.” This meal came with a cup of Java rice, half a corn cob, and a side of vegetable salad. Though it took quite a while to get my food served, I didn’t mind. I was so ecstatic that I got the ribs!

The Chicken Cordon Bleau was also amazing. Basti went ahead and committed the sin of eating all the curly fries that came with the dish. A lemon butter sauce was also served to match the chicken. It also came with a serving of vegetable salad.

I asked for Prawns Putanesca (Php295) to go. Yeah, I think I’m scared of getting hungry. Kidding! I meant to give it to my bro when I reach home but he was already asleep when I arrived so I just ate it. It tasted good but I expected it to be a bit spicy since it was Putanesca, but it wasn’t. It tasted like a regular Italian spaghetti. And I wish the prawns were bigger. :) It came with one piece of garlic bread.

I was quite amused how they gave us our bill. It was placed in this tin container.

A friend sent me a message that I should try their shake. Unfortunately, we were already on the way out then. Next time, aside from the ribs, I’ll get their shake.

Spread some awesome..ness.. :D
