Vikings is an Eat All You Can Restaurant located at one end of San Miguel By The Bay across the north side of SM Mall of Asia. This restaurant which is known to give a “luxury buffet” experience offers an elegant ambiance while you devour all kinds of food that you want. Now I know how lavish vikings dine when have a feast.
It was pig out Sunday for me so I decided to try Vikings. Well, every is pig out day so it really didn’t matter what day it was. I initially booked a reservation at Vikings on a Saturday so we can also watch the pyromusical show held in Manila Bay. We tried making the reservation a week before but to no avail, they were already fully-booked. So, we just decided to go the next day.
A day before, I received a text message asking me to confirm about our reservation. It also mentioned that we come between 5:30-7:00 PM to avoid our reservation from getting cancelled. So, we were there around 5:30 PM and there was already this huge crowd of people waiting outside.
Since we had a reservation we didn’t need to wait along with them. We just mentioned our reservation to the front door and they immediately let us in and lead us to our seat. Upon entering Vikings, we were told that we can already start our food journey. Yay!
So, if you’re planning to go to Vikings, it’s recommended that you book a reservation. Anyway, you won’t have to pay anything for it until you eat. Otherwise, you can also try to go walk-in but you might wait a little.
Here is the current rates at Vikings. They don’t charge any corkage fee in case you bring drinks in the restaurant. But why would you do that if they already have overflowing fruit juice, shake, gulaman, coffee, tea, and San Miguel Beer?
Vikings has a lavish ambiance. The setup truly shows luxury.
There are really lots of food choices at Vikings. You can start the food journey with soups and salads. They have broccoli soup and chicken sotanghon to warm your stomach with before filling it with food. I skipped the soup because I want to have more space for the meat. Lol.
They also have potato salad, pomelo salad, grape salad, and strawberry salad. I like the grape salad the most. The pomelo salad was okay but the strawberry salad was a little bland for me. You can also create your own salad on the other side.
At one side, you can choose from a large selection of sushis, makis, and sashimis.
Adjacent to the sushis, makis, and sashimis are dimsums like hakao (shrimp dumpling) and siomai (pork or beef dumpling). There is also a seafood hotpot station on one end.
There is a cold cuts and cheese station. I was able to sample 2 different cold cuts and 3 different kinds of cheese. In this station, there are also different pates. I sampled everything I can and for me, I liked the pates – even the one made from spinach.
There is also an area where you can find fresh seafood. You can request for it to be grilled. Just give them your table number and they will serve it to you. We requested for grilled squid and Lapu-Lapu.
Sadly, the squid and Lapu-Lapu were a little burnt that they had a bitter taste. Not a fan..
If there is grilled seafood, there are grilled meats. In one corner, people are lining up for steaks. You can choose among lamb leg, rib eye, and Angus tenderloin. You can also choose to have them all. They give them to you hot off the grill. We had the truffle sauce poured on top the whole pile of steaks.
San Miguel Beer on tap? They have it and pair them with these Crispy Crablets.
There are also many dessert choices – ice cream, cakes, and chocolate-covered strawberries. You can pair these sweets with a cup of hot coffee.
Here are the usual suspects having a nice time at Vikings. Wait for the next post for the recommended food you should try when you visit this luxury buffet resto.
Spread some awesome..ness..
