Chef Hasset Go’s Bloggers’ Night at Il Mercanti in Metrowalk Ortigas

We had the privilege to attend Chef Hasset Go’s Bloggers’ Night last May 5, 2012 (Saturday). It was an awesome event filled with overflowing food from different concessionaires of Il Mercanti, appetizing live demos from Chef Nando’s Paella and Chef Hasset himself, refreshing music from emerging stars such as Boyz Next Door and Aisaku, and lot’sa freebies from King Sue and MedChef.

Of course, it won’t be a Bloggers’ Night if it wasn’t attended by some of the influential bloggers on the World Wide Web. We had a chance to rub our elbows and be friends with some of them, and they are all so cool! We met Ms. Cha Sy, Ms. Yani Metrado, and Mr. Eugene Constantino.

The event started with a few words from Ms. Analou De Castro, Marketing Manager of Il Mercanti. Then, a cooking demo by Chef Nando’s Paella filled the air with so much gusto. Come on, anything with saffron will surely turn any behaved foodie wild!

After cooking, he topped the paella with slices of grilled green and red bell pepper, and pepperoni. What made me fall in love with this paella is the use of real saffron. Such a classy dish.

Had a chance to have a taste of this paella and it was really good. Also tasted some of the food from concessionaires of Il Mercanti such Tita Carol’s Lechon Kawali and a layered pizza from Philly Mignon.

While filling our tummies with food, Chef Hasset started his cooking demo. We didn’t expect a chef with a bakery to cook a savory dish but he never fails to amaze us. He prepared a savory dish using King Sue (pronounced as /King Sweh/). King Sue is popular for providing tasty sausages and ham. We personally love their sausages that it’s always part of our grocery list.

After the savory dish, Chef Hasset built his Pastry Tower that two teams of bloggers will demolish. Had the chance to join this activity and even though we did not win, eating the pastry tower is already a prize in itself. Once again, we met the Puratos Carat Ganache and it was used as icing on this delicious pastry tower.

After demolishing the 7-tiered pastry tower, we had a chance to have a sneak-peek on Chef Hasset’s cakes and pastries that are part of his soon-to-be-launched book called Desserts to Go. Here are a few of the desserts that sashayed on the runway.
