Max Brenner in Westgate Alabang, Muntinlupa
Duration : 1-2 hours
Bummers : none so far
One Sunday afternoon, after checking out from our all-expense paid R&R at Acacia Hotel Manila, we decided to drop by Max Brenner – Chocolate by the Bald Man. This chic chocolate restobar is just a stone-throw away from Acacia Hotel Manila so paying it a visit during that time was pretty strategic. Max Brenner has been in my list of to-visit restos as it has been recommended by a good friend who loves sweets for a long time now. So, when I saw that it was just near the hotel we were staying, I knew it was the best chance to give it a try.
When we went to Max Brenner, we were still so full from our buffet breakfast from Acacia Hotel Manila. So we just tried 3 of their best-selling chocolate beverages.
For Max Brenner’s Chocolate Menu, find it here. For Savory dishes, find them here.
Upon entering Max Brenner, you can immediately feel the elegant appeal and chocolatey ambiance that it exudes. Since we went there on a Sunday afternoon, it was very quiet inside the restobar with only a couple of people having some snack and chillin’. It was a great time to go around the chocolate bar, and snap some photos because the place was so serene and the sleek design really draws you into it.
By the door of the chocolate bar, there are boxes of chocolate powder and spices – which certainly gives life a kick and makes it more amazing.
At one side of Max Brenner, there is a bar area with high stools but unlike a regular bar, customers here don’t drink spirits to get themselves drunk rather they drink chocolate beverages to bring their spirits up. We all know that a cup of warm chocolate can go a long way especially in uplifting our spirits and creating a smile in our faces.
Max Brenner is the kind of bar that can help you forget about your worries temporarily and make you happy even just for a while without that hangover and headache the morning after.
Max Brenner’s spot s quite big. It has a second level that you can sit on comfortable in case the first level gets packed.
I am not so much into hot beverages so I tried one of Max Brenner’s Chocishakes, the Chocobanana (Php 188). From the name of the drink itself, you’ll already have an idea what’s in it. It has banana, white chocolate, and espresso. It is topped with whipped cream. The beverage comes in a tall glass called an Alice cup. The Alice cup was named from the childhood storybook character in Alice in Wonderland. It was named from that to promote being forever young. The drink came with a metal straw. The chocobanana is a bit sweet for my palate. But never the less, it’s a great drink.
The Venezuela Milk Chocolate (Php 198) is Max Brenner’s classic semi-sweet hot chocolate. It is served in a Hug Mug, which is a specially-designed mug for hot chocolate drinking ceremony. The mug is shaped to be held by both hands as if hugging the mug. This promotes coziness, warmth, and fragrance while enjoying a cup of hot chocolate.
The Suckao (Php 198) is a beverage that is fun to drink. According to Max Brenner, Suckao is the espresso of the chocolate world. It is served as a small, dense, and concentrated amount of pure chocolate. Suckao is made up of two words – the way you drink it (suck) and the thing that you drink (kakao). Having Suckao is creating your own drink. You can choose from dark or milk chocolate. You will be given a Suckao cup, which is a glass of milk heated by a small candle underneath it. An extra serving of milk is provided. A plateful of chocolate, which you melt in the cup, comes with the beverage.
There is so much to try at Max Brenner. I am hoping I can go back there again and check out even their savory dishes. Next time, it will be with an empty stomach.
Spread some awesome..ness..
