Changi Village Hotel – Ideal for Singapore Airport Travelers
Changi Village Hotel is one of the posh hotels under Far East Hospitality Group. It is popular for being a great hotel of choice for airport travelers because this hotel is located at Changi Village, which is only a 15-minute shuttle ride from Changi Airport in Singapore. Changi Village Hotel has complimentary shuttle service from the hotel to Changi Airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and vice-versa. For complimentary shuttle service schedule, get it here.
Changi Village Hotel offers a relaxing ambiance away from the busy city center with the view of nature and the sea surrounding it. Aside from catering to airport travelers, Changi Village Hotel is a suitable place to stay for people who like to go on an adventure at the nearby island named Pulau Ubin.
Pulau Ubin shows a different side of Singapore. Most of us just know Singapore as a very busy city especially if you merely stay at the area of Marina Bay or Harbour Front (which is the entry point to Sentosa). However, Singapore has a lot to offer especially for travelers who are going for what we call “soul-searching trip” because Changi Village and the nearby island of Pulau Ubin offers a laid-back environment where you can travel in peace and solitude. Pulau Ubin is destination for people who want to go mountain biking. People visiting the island usually bring their bikes with them but there are also bike rentals in the Pulau Ubin. The island is just a 10-minute boat ride from the jetty port in Changi Village.
Changi Village Hotel exudes elegance even if it is located at the heart of a forest-like neighborhood. Checking in is quick and easy because the reception area is right by the entrance. The reception area where the lobby can be found features a high ceiling that represents luxury accommodation.
Changi Village Hotel houses 380 rooms – with rooms divided into various categories namely the Superior/Deluxe Room, Executive Club Room, and the Suites. It was a great privilege to be given with an Executive Club Room with a balcony that has a view of the sea. The Executive Club Rooms are located on the 6th floor where the Executive Club Lounge is also located. Guests staying on the Executive Club Rooms have access to the Executive Club Lounge where there is complimentary breakfast buffet in the morning and complimentary cocktails at night.
The Executive Club Room has a soft and comfy king-sized bed. Across it is a desk where you can transform into a hotel room work area. A large LCD TV hangs in front of the bed and below it is a small area for the mini bar. At the mini bar, there are complimentary tea and coffee product in case you simply want to whip up a cup before going out in the morning.
The toilet and bath is pretty cozy at the Executive Club Room. We all know that space in Singapore is very limited but Changi Village Hotel’s Executive Club Room provides ample space where you can move around – even in the toilet and bath area. The bath has a large tub where you can take a dip for a while after taking long walks around Singapore. A hot bath will certainly relax your very tired feet as it did with mine. Oh and if you noticed, the bath area features a glass window perfect for honeymooners. Woot!
The toilet is very clean and spacious as well. I personally like the wooden floor of the toilet, which makes it more homey.
The Executive Club Lounge
The Executive Club Lounge is a special area for Executive Club Room guests where they can wine and dine, or simply chill. The Executive Club Lounge has a large LCD TV, has a selection of books, and provides computers that can be used by Executive Club Room guests. It was a great opportunity to try the breakfast spread at the Executive Club Lounge.
The Meeting Areas
Aside from being an airport hotel, Changi Village Hotel is also known as a meeting hotel for business travelers. Changi Village Hotel has 17 fully-equipped meeting areas for business guests. It has indoor and outdoor venues depending on the purpose of the meeting.
The Swimming Pools
Changi Village Hotel has two swimming pools – an infinity pool at rooftop (8th floor) and an outdoor pool overlooking the Changi Golf Course.
The infinity pool has a view of the sea. This is sometimes used as an outdoor venue for solemnization events. Small parties can also be accommodated at the infinity pool area.
The outdoor pool near the Changi Golf Course is very spacious. You can go to it by passing through the Saltwater, one of Changi Village Hotel’s restaurants.
A Tour at the Royal Suite
Changi Village Hotel gave a quick tour of their Royal Suite. This is the biggest room in the hotel with a whopping 75 sqm. in area. It has a large living area, a very spacious bedroom, and 1.5 toilet and bath. The Royal Suite definitely provides royal treatment.
Final Take
Awesome! : Changi Village Hotel is great for airport travelers, and for people who want to explore Changi and Pulau Ubin. It is also a great destination for people who want to have a sweet escape from the bustling city.
Awe-kay.. : Changi Village Hotel offers a great view of nature and the sea. The view of the Changi Golf Course can also be very refreshing.
Awe-No! : This hotel might be a very far hotel to stay in if you plan to be in the city center for most of your stay. It is about an hour bus-train ride to the city or about 20 SGD (~Php 680) cab ride. But if you want a change of environment which is common for many business travelers, it might still be a feasible option.
The overall stay would have been great even if the location is far out of the city but a negative experience happened during check out. The bill showed a 3.5-minute IDD call made from our room which I am pretty sure we did not make. The time of the call coincides with the Singapore Blog Awards that I covered, and my friend who crashed in my room during my stay spent the whole day going around the Botanic Garden and Sentosa during that day. I argued for a while but simply gave in because the staff kept telling me it was auto-generated, and I had to catch my flight back to the Philippines. It was also weird that my key card doesn’t work that day that I had to go up and down the reception twice to get it fixed. This was quite an unfortunate event, and actually a first for me who frequently stays on “starred” hotels during out of town and out of the country trips.

Hey Kat, I’m really sorry to hear about your negative experiences during check out. When I was working at a five-stars hotel a few years back, we would normally not put up a dispute with our guests over trivial amounts of money. They should either 1). Check when the call was made and check if anyone unauthorised was in your room making the phone call at that time. I believe your keycard was overwritten by the staffs from the front desk and that could be the reason why your keycard couldn’t work. In any case, I really hope you had a great time in Singapore. Do let me know the next time you’re coming back so that I could bring you around. Cheers!
@Melvin
Hi Melvin! Yeah it was a bit sad but I hope it was just a rare incidence. Anyway, yeah I will definitely inform you when I go to Singapore again. I can’t stopped thinking about catching those shrimps. And maybe if there is time we can go mountain biking in Pulau Ubin. I think it’s a place people rarely visit so I wanna check it out.
