A creation of Renee Sebastian, the only Certified Tea Master™ and Couture Tea Blender™ in the Philippines, da.u.de is popular for its custom teas in New York and San Francisco Bay Area. Since 2009, it has been providing traditional wellness products with a dash of modern flavor including spa and clothing products. In essence, da.u.de is a Filipino brand that started a buzz stateside and it is finally home.

da.u.de Tea Lounge just opened more than a month ago and is still running on its soft opening. It may seem like the menu is quite limited but you can mix and match stuff to get a perfect meal. Moreover, you can have a chitchat with Renee and ask her about the secret menu. *wink wink*

Got invited to check out the new place so one weekend, Basti and I paid da.u.de a visit. Just 5 weeks open but it is already slammed with customers. To start, we tried their best-selling beverages – the Lemon Thirst Quencher and the Black Almond Macchiato.

The Lemon Thirst Quencher really lives up to its name. It is sweet and refreshing, and it comes with a jelly surprise underneath. The Black Almond Macchiato is coffee-based drink. It starts off as macchiato and you can choose what tea will be infused with it. The black almond tea gives it an exquisite flavor.

While waiting for our order, we were served with Madeleine, which are small sponge cake originally from France. When it was served, it filled the air with a certain fragrance. Wonderful. Madeleine was served with tea-infused jam and cottage cheese.

da.u.de has its secret menu so if you want to try something out of the regular menu, you can simply ask them. I was able to try one dish from the secret menu and since I am a kid at heart, I got the Hotdog with Dawg’s Sauerkraut and Blueberries.

This was something new for me, the first time I had blueberries on my favorite snack. The sweet and sour taste of the blueberries worked for me, like purple ketchup on my sandwich.

Basti had the Thai Congee. It was simple, warm, and had lechon kawali-like topping. That’s what we liked the most on this dish – the meat. Perfect when it’s gloomy outside and your listening to sound of the pouring rain. If that was the weather that day, it would’ve been awesome.

Thank you da.u.de Tea Lounge for having us. Special thanks to Miss Renee for accommodating us and for being uber cool despite her super occupied schedule. Yup, she’s hands-on and I bet she’ll be into more stress when people start clobbering her tea lounge. Good thing there’s a lot of tea to relax her. :) Had I known that she’s a singer, I would have not left without requesting for a song. :D

Thanks also to da.u.de’s chef, Mr. Ramon Antonio, for the creating our meals himself and discussing the bits and pieces of the meal that we had. Great job sir!

Oh, and thanks Basti for sharing some of your pix. My camera was in a citrusy mood that time and most of my pix turned out orange. Good thing you were there!

Will definitely be back at da.u.de Tea Lounge soon. There’s a lot more to try and I am pretty intrigued with the tea-infused spirits. I think that will be perfect for a weekend. Looking forward to waking up to an awesome hangover soon. :D
