On Walking the Streets, Being Awesome, Appreciation, and “Bagong Diskarte”
Whatever new place I visit, I always make sure to spend time walking the streets because the best things that you can experience are on it. I walk the streets to meet locals, to take a look around the scenery, and to scour the place for the best street food.
Yeah, street food. I personally believe that to fully appreciate anything about a place, you should eat its streets (and drink as well). This is what I got from traveling on my own, in and out of the country. This is my “bagong diskarte”, a way to enjoy life more and scratch off stuff from my bucket list.
Walking the streets is done best with the people dear to you. Walking with family and friends, eating and merry-making, I think those are a few things that make life simply awesome. My family is a fun bunch. We don’t choose where we eat so long as the food is good and it is aplenty.
When I walk the streets, I don’t saunter and mope. I make sure to walk with attitude, to walk with “swag”.
If this photo with Bruce Lee does not spell attitude all over it, I don’t know what else.
Sometimes I sashay and sometimes I even jump with gusto. My enthusiasm can even be very exaggerated, like this, beyond containment.
The streets has no pretensions and street food is as real as you can get. It is raw, and it shows what has been, what is now, and what could be. It does not focus on how it looks but on the taste — the taste that has been passed on. And that taste is a product of decades or even of centuries of preparation, from one’s ancestors to the present.
The streets offer everything. There are no limits when you walk the streets — the bolder and more daring you are, the better. Just like this vid, it’s spontaneous, fun, and just wonderful.
Yeah, that’s how we roll. When someone tells me to stop walking, I dare to put something new. I strut my way and make sure create an emphasis. Each day unfolds and I always try to find a way to turn it into something amazing. It’s a trip, a taste of something new, an experience that you share, and a story to laugh at the end of the day.
When they tell you to stop, do the moonwalk. Shuffle. By all means, dance the walk – Frutcy in one hand and your own “bagong diskarte” on the other.
And don’t forget to..
Spread some awesome..ness..

I agree!!!
Walking is an important part of life and of traveling. I love walking around.
I discover lots of places (and things) through walking.
