Curry House CoCo Ichibanya – As Real As Japanese Curry Can Get

January 3rd, 2013 No comments

Just to make it clear, I am not a fan of curry. The pungent and spice-filled aroma and taste of this dish does not entice my taste buds. But this changed when I got a taste of Curry House CoCo Ichibanya. One fateful afternoon, during my trip to Japan, I didn’t have any exploring plans so I decided to meet up with a friend and she brought me to this curry house. I was a bit hesitant at first because I was worried that I might not like it, and put a good afternoon and meal to waste. She coerced me to give it a try and I thank her for that.

Located near their office, I think Curry House CoCo Ichibanya is one of her favorite lunch spots. The place may be a little tiny but the servings are definitely enormous enough to fill an empty tummy.

When you order a dish, you can customize it in any way that fits your palate. Here’s how it goes.

1. Select the curry sauce. A choice between pork and beef curry is available starting at normal spiciness level.

2. Select the quantity of rice. The base is 300g but you can also get one with 200g or 400g.

3. Select your spice level. The spice levels are mild flavor, regular spiced, and spice level 1 to 10 (10 being the spiciest).

4. Select your favorite add-ons and toppings. Popular add-ons and toppings include garlic bits, hard boiled or soft boiled egg, cheese, and cream croquette with crab.

Don’t worry, in case you forget how to order, it’s written on their menu. Make sure to ask for the English menu.

SBA2012: Buffet Lunch at Zaffron in Oasia Hotel Singapore

July 27th, 2012 No comments

Before heading to the Singapore Flyer to witness the highly-anticipated Singapore Blog Awards 2012, the international bloggers along with their Singaporean blogger hosts were brought to Oasia Hotel to feast on the buffet lunch spread at hotel’s premier restaurant – Zaffron.

Zaffron is inspired from saffron, an expensive and high quality spice that is known for its exquisite fragrance and flavor. Zaffron has a well-lit dining area that can accommodate up to 120 guests. The restaurant serves international dishes of epicurean proportions. It was good day to have a taste of some of Singapore’s finest cuisines.
